For the second year in a row, the Nike Air Force 1 Low is the best-selling sneaker in the sports industry.
Data for 2021 comes from NDP senior adviser Matt Powell, specializing in the sale of sports shoes. In his Sneakernomics breakdown of last year’s sales numbers and trends, Powell highlights the year’s top ten best-selling shoes by revenue. The Air Force 1 Low, which makes the list almost every time, took the top spot for the second year in a row. There were many other commonalities with the best sellers of 2020, as all the top ten pairs were the same and only their ranking changed.
The rest of the best players of 2021, in order, include the Nike Air Max 270, Nike Air Vapormax Plus, Nike Revolution 5, Nike Air Max 97, Adidas NMD R1, Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit 3, Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG and Air Jordan 13 Retro. This means that Nike and its subsidiary Jordan Brand dominate almost the entire list two years in a row, with the Adidas NMD R1 being the only entry from a competing brand.
It should be mentioned that due to the ever-changing distribution of products, it is not possible to track every shoe sold. Sales resulting from factors such as Nike’s continued push towards the consumer and Kanye West’s Yeezy Supply e-commerce site are not included in these numbers. Instead, the data here is only for shoes sold through point-of-sale methods.
