DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) – A Delray Beach resident is facing multiple charges after he allegedly punched a woman in the Checkers at 450 West Atlantic Avenue and then laughed at his family while they had dinner. Christopher Lehmann of the 300 block of SW 4th Avenue in Delray Beach then spat at the officers and threatened them.

The following is the account written by a Delray Beach police officer who responded to the scene. BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report:

The following incident occurred in the town of Delay Beach in Palm Beach County, Florida. On 8/31/22 at 2245 hours I was dispatched to Checkers 450 W Atlantic Ave with reference to a simple battery. I contacted the victim who said a Caucasian suspect punched her in the face.

The victim said she was sitting at a table outside the business when a white male approached her and her family. The white male taunted the family as they tried to eat their food. The victim asked the white man to leave and he became furious. He approached the woman and punched her in the face with a clenched fist. The Caucasian suspect walked west on W Atlantic Ave wearing a brown hat, black tank top, gray shorts and black Adidas shoes.

Sgt Leon made contact with the suspect later identified as Christopher Lehmann matching the description at 725 W Atlantic Ave (Marathon). I performed a show-up with the victim who positively identified Lehmann as the man who stuck her in the face. She provided an affidavit recorded on a camera worn by my department. The crime scene was not available, I took a picture of the victim’s facial injury (small swelling) just below his left eye.

Lehman read his Miranda Warnings and asked me to call his attorney. He won’t talk about the incident. While typing the report, Lehman was threatening the officers from the back of my fully marked police vehicle. He said he was “going to uppercut us and fight us” and “hit the head” when he arrived at the county jail and got rid of the handcuffs. He continued to make these statements even after being warned to stop.

Lehmann also deliberately spat in Ofc. Otero’s face from inside my police vehicle fully marked as Ofc Otero stood outside the vehicle. Based on the facts above, there is probable cause to charge Christopher Lehmann with 784.03 (1A1) SIMPLE BATTERY (TOUCH OR STRIKE), 838.021 (3B) CORRUPTION BY THREAT TO THE PUBLIC OF, 784.07 (2B) BATTERY ON OFFICER , FIREFIGHTER, EMT ET.

Christopher Lehmann, 36, was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail at 12:57 a.m. Thursday. He remains locked up on Saturday morning.
